Spotlight on Mike MacPhee CGA, ACI
Treasurer of the Credit Institute of Canada

Mike was appointed Treasurer of the Credit Institute of Canada in October 2009. This appointment caps off a distinguished career of combining work and volunteer activities. Here are some of the volunteer positions Mike has held:

Why does Mike do it, and how does he find the time? Here’s Mike’s response: I have met many people throughout my career, but none are as important as the great number of friends I have made through my volunteer work within the CIC. It has been, and continues to be, a most gratifying and truly rewarding experience.

Mike has over 33 years of experience working in all facets of the lumber industry. Since 1996, he has been the Controller for Northcoast Building Products in Surrey, BC, where one of his primary responsibilities is the credit and collections portfolio. Mike came to this position very well prepared. He earned his CGA designation in 1978 and then went on to obtain a B. Comm (Cum Laude) from Concordia University in Montreal (his home town). In recognition of his senior-level credit industry knowledge and experience, and his contributions to the CIC, Mike was awarded the ACI designation in 2005.

When he’s not working or volunteering, Mike enjoys playing golf, bowling, reading, and visiting BC wineries. He and fellow CCP, Nancy Goldman, recently celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary. Mike also gets to spend time with son David, who works at Northcoast Building Products as well.
